JIL SANDER presents “WANDERLUST” in Hamburg: A Prelude in Sound by Simone Bellotti

Creating always starts with an exchange of thoughts, a dialogue between people. Simone Bellotti’s first creative statement at JIL SANDER does exactly that. Through visuals and sound, a music video set in Hamburg, the hometown of the label’s founder, introduces the new Creative Director’s approach and direction for the house: thoughtful, cultural, and multi-sensory, something non-fashion, yet clearly conveying the emotion tied to JIL SANDER’s legacy, history, and duality.

Set against the backdrop of Hamburg, the music video (watch) reflects the city’s own contrasts: stillness and chaos, day turning into night, nature colliding with urban sprawl. We see raw and unfiltered moments that reveal a hidden side of Hamburg and its individuals in contrast to the city’s clarity, all accompanied by flowing verse and Bochum Welt’s melodic electronica.

Bochum Welt, that is Italian electronic musician Gianluigi Di Costanzo, blends aural experimentation with sentimental dance music: another duality. The vinyl EP unfolds as a sonic meditation on these contrasts: Crystal Ice / Wanderlust / Shades / Night’s Frost / San Peder a Sent / More Light (Escape Mix) / Cresting Waves.

The music video had its official screening last week in Hamburg, with a beautiful evening at the OHG, a converted industrial space in Hamburg overlooking the harbor. In an intimate setting, guests were invited to experience the multidisciplinary work, with a strong focus on the sound, supported by its visual elements.

The move may mark a long-term commitment to music as an integral part of the JIL SANDER universe under Simone Bellotti. If anything, it definitely serves as a prelude to his upcoming fashion debut, staying true to JIL SANDER’s identity: minimal yet emotive and poetic.   The vinyls are available at select JIL SANDER boutiques, JilSander.com, and across Kudos distribution worldwide later in August.
