Seen by Fräulein #38

Too many headlines, too little time. That’s why "Seen by Fräulein" is our weekly edit of everything the Fräulein team has been talking about, obsessing over, or saving for later.

CHANEL COMISSIONS: LINA LAPELYTĖ. WE MAKE YEARS OUT OF HOURSE

Lina Lapelytė’s performance “We Make Years Out of Hours” transforms the historic hall of the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, for the second CHANEL Commission, into a place of collective action and singing where the visitors become a part transformation of the exhibition itself. It crosses boundaries between sculpture and performance, individual and collective: 400,000 wooden blocks spread across the floor, pile up into stacks, and combine into architectural and then hill-like structures. The blocks pass through the hands of performers and visitors, and so the wooden landscape is in constant flux. “We Make Years Out of Hours” is a living monument to time, care, and coexistence. With its active involvement of the audience, this participatory format underscores the understanding of the open museum on the occasion of the Hamburger Bahnhof’s 30th anniversary. The exhibition is open until the 10th of January, 2027.

BORN TO DISOBEY

Desigual has released its Fall/Winter 2026 campaign with Vivian Jenna Wilson. The campaign embodies a message of individuality at a time when technology, algorithms, and expectations of perfection set the pace. In the campaign film, Wilson puts the robot DESI 84 to use for everything except what it was actually designed to do as a robot: among other things, she uses it as a golf tee, a gardener, a leashed pet, and a bedmate, before finally dragging it across a carpet by its ankles and dryly declaring, “Some things aren’t meant to be fixed.” Notably, the robot wasn’t powered by any real technology at all — it was played by a human performer in costume, and Wilson reportedly gossiped about pop culture with him between takes. With this, Desigual deliberately sets a counterpoint to the AI-generated ad campaigns many fashion brands are currently rolling out. So you could almost call it a political statement Desigual ist putting out.

KITKAT – KINKS OF BERLIN

KitKat – Kinks of Berlin, which premiered on September 10, looks beyond KitKat Club‘s mythology of sex, excess and radical self-expression. Rather than exposing what happens inside, the film follows the people who make up its world — their desires, relationships, contradictions and differing ideas of freedom. Behind the doors of Berlin’s KitKat Club, the rules of the outside world seem to loosen — but freedom here comes with rules of its own. KitKat – “Kinks of Berlin” looks beyond that mythology. Instead of simply revealing what happens inside the club, the film follows the people who make up its world: their desires, their relationships, their contradictions, and the different ways they understand freedom. In this conversation, producer Cordula Kablitz-Post and author and playwright Susanne Heuer talk about how the film came together, the trust required to bring a camera into a space where cameras are normally forbidden, and the challenge of portraying KitKat without turning it into either a scandal or an idealized fantasy. They reflect on consent, sexuality, generational change, and why spaces that allow people to live outside the so-called “norm” may matter more than ever.

FAVORITE LOAFERS – DR. MARTENS KEY SILHOUETTES WITH LEGACY

Dr. Martens expands its loafer offering this season with four styles — Adrian, Mayfare, Penton and Delapre — each reworking the brand‘s signature construction in a distinct silhouette. The loafer remains one of the most versatile shoe styles, moving easily between casual and tailored looks.

THE NEW ICON: DOLCE&GABBANA’S MY SICILY BAG

Dolce&Gabbana’s My Sicily bag returns in a new guise, staying true to the silhouette that has long stood for classic elegance and cosmopolitan charm. The bag embodies classic elegance, cosmopolitan charm, dynamic aesthetics, and functional design — the concept behind an icon. Its structured top-handle shape blends traditional Italian craftsmanship with modern practicality, a combination that has made it one of the house’s most recognizable pieces.

ANNA HULAČOVÁ AT SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE FRANKFURT

Anna Hulačová has her first solo exhibition in Germany from October 1, 2026 to January 10, 2027 in the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, on the occasion of the Czech Republic’s role as Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair. In her woodworking art she is presenting our alienated interaction towards nature. Her figurative sculptures combine influences from Surrealism, Socialist Realism, and Czech folk art into a distinctive cosmos, in which she explores the relationship between humans and nature from an ecofeminist perspective. In this world, bees and concrete become symbols of a utopian-apocalyptic vision.
