Imprisoned in the GDR in 1976 for “slandering the state,” she later joined the artistic underground and co-founded the Künstlerinnengruppe Erfurt. From June 2026, Gropius Bau presents “Dabei sein und nicht schweigen,” her largest institutional solo show to date. With around 150 works spanning painting, literature, photography, textile art, Super-8 film, and performance, the exhibition highlights her experimental range and calls for wider recognition of this pioneering artist. © Antje Majewski / VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn, courtesy the artist and neugerriemschneider KUNSTWOCHE DER KOMMUNALEN GALERIEN BERLIN The Berlin Municipal Galleries Art Week takes place this year from October 2nd to 11th. 36 galleries are presenting 44 exhibitions featuring 150 artists.
