TENNIS MEETS EMPOWERMENT IN BERLIN

vor 3 years

Berlin is well known for a lot of things. It’s a creative-playground for art-aficionados, fashion-fanatics and party-people. But this year the city turns into a tennis-capital and hosts from June 12th to 20th, 2021 the WTA tennis tournament in cooperation with Bett1.

Emancipation and female empowerment are certainly no longer foreign words in tennis.
At least since 1973, when tennis heroine Billie Jean King competed against Wimbledon winner Bobby Riggs in the Battle of the Sexes – and won. But also these days female empowerment plays an increasingly important role in tennis and in sports in general. The same goes of course for the Bett1 Open.

The event, which takes place from June 12th to 20th at the Steffi Graf Stadium, deliberately focuses on women empowerment and independence, strength and style. During the tournament, world leader Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka and Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber will face a total of eight top 10 players and another 15 top 20 players. Thus, the event in Berlin is the perfect prelude to Wimbledon
