by Nicole Atieno The Skirt: Prada Spring/Summer 2026 Collection For Spring/Summer 2026, Prada under Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons proposes clothing that refuses a single interpretation. The collection’s standout element is the skirt, whose silhouette is revealed through movement. Overlapping panels meet at their ends, creating a sharp cut between each section. Pleats, flounces and ruffles appear almost like fragments of different ideas moving together as one. Prada SS26 This tension is reinforced through color and texture Classic black, soft pastels, and sharp primary tones. Diaphanous taffeta sits beside structured duchesse satin, while matte crepe de Chine contrasts with embroidery. Prada SS26 Prada SS26 The skirt was first developed through draping on a mannequin. It was then translated into precise pattern cutting, engineered to support fabrics with very different weights and behaviors. The front panel is made from duchesse satin with formed flat pleats anchored to the waistband. At the sides, an embroidered crepe panel introduces light, with each crystal setting applied by hand. The back is constructed in taffeta through a complex three-tier system: a structural base panel, layered ruffles to build volume and a final layer composed of seven gathered, embroidered ruffles. A grosgrain belt defines the waist. Patchwork becomes the method. Different materials retain their identity and shift visually with every step. Prada SS26 Look 8 presents the skirt as a silhouette that changes depending on viewpoint. From the front it appears almost architectural and controlled; from the side it becomes luminous and tactile; from the back it transforms into volume and movement. It takes 27 hours of work to create this garment that reads as several skirts existing within one outfit. Structured; soft, graphic and fluid at once. In Prada SS26, the core idea comes alive through this piece. Clothing is not a finished statement but an open interpretation. It’s final shape is decided by the wearer in motion.
