Pick Of The Week: Matière Première’s Metal Lavender Matière Première is the brainchild of seventh generation perfumer Aurélien Guichard, whose family has been working with scent in Grasse for generations. His Metal Lavender makes the familiar flower feel rebellious, with organic lavandin from his own fields meeting lavender absolute from Haute Provence. The result is a fresh yet sensual and modern fragrance. The house was born in 2016, when Guichard planted 10,000 rose bushes in Grasse and began growing his own organic ingredients. Matière Première is built around a simple idea: let exceptional raw materials speak for themselves, without hiding them under layers of decoration. And Metal Lavender took around 1,500 trials to get right, proof that simplicity can be surprisingly hard work.
