Pick Of The Week: Cartier‘s Grain de Café Bracelet, Diamonds The Grain de Café motif first entered Cartier’s vocabulary in 1938, under the creative direction of Jeanne Toussaint, its rounded coffee-bean form offering a recurring expression of the Maison’s fascination with nature, movement and sculptural gold. Reintroduced in 2022, the new collection comprised of diamond earrings, diamond necklaces, diamond rings, diamond brooches and this diamond bracelet. Here, the bracelet is composed of 750 yellow gold and 750 white gold, with articulated coffee-bean forms arranged along a braided gold structure, giving the piece its sense of rhythm as it moves around the wrist. For size 17, 24 brilliant cut diamonds and 2 princess cut diamonds are set into the gold, with a total weight of 0.50 carats; the number of stones and carat weight vary according to size. The bracelet carries a subtle sense of movement, with each ribbed form catching the light as the wrist shifts. Gold, white gold and diamonds are worked into the structure with a tactile precision that gives the piece an almost organic presence. Cartier describes the Grain de Café vision as rebellious, free and refined, qualities that sit naturally within this design. The coffee bean is reimagined through the language of jewelry, its rounded form traced in gold and punctuated by the quiet brilliance of diamonds.
