Post Pandemic Sunny Days: Bottega Veneta Spring Summer ’21

vor 3 years

The Bottega Veneta Spring Summer ’21 show was a physical presentation shown to a local audience in London back in October. The recent collection has created a buzz through the Fräulein office and today we dissect the womenswear part of the collection.

Daniel Lee bet on unusual fabrics for the luxury brand this season. Different techniques of knits and crochets were in the center of the womenswear collection, those textile experiments came as no surprise considering the background of the current artistic director, a former knitwear student at Central Saint Martins. Materials especially unusual for a Spring / Summer collection, light, and colorful crochets showed a lot of skin in a fun and creative way to repurpose old techniques. As a modern armor, knits are thought to bring a feeling of protection and coziness – a much-needed admission due to a whole year of country lockdowns and self-isolations at home.

The color scheme was also interesting with a palette of nudes emblematic of the brand and with more pop colors such as deep apple green which has become a part of a new DNA strand of the brand.

The iconic leatherwork stayed as an important part of the collection, as it has done in previous collections, through accessories and its casual ensemble. The work on denim marks a new addition to the savoir-faire of the brand, the timeless material was transformed under the creative tenure of Lee. Lee gave a couture feel and a creative spirit to the RTW collection. We are already guessing a lot of trends coming from this show, examples such as the monochromatic silhouettes and XXL bags which were playful and practical will be next season’s biggest must-haves!

This collection is truly representative of the work of Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta, bringing together expertise and tradition within innovation. Wearable avant-garde garments continued a fresh way to approach fashion and Fräulein is already excited about 2021, thanks to its promising fashion being shown.

The Italian Maison renowned for its incredible accessories did not disappoint us this season, an honorable mention going to the green hoofs which invite us to take an early summer vacation once we are all out of this pandemic.
