FRÄULEIN’S CRUSH: BOTTEGA VENETA PUDDLE BOOTS

vor 4 years

There are items that we like, and there are items that we love. There are items we collectively laugh over, bond over, swoon over, and there are definitely pieces we are singularly obsessed with. We have decided to dedicate a weekly declaration of love to particular fashion and beauty pieces that may not forever be iconic or relevant, but are currently making us feel some type of way. Enjoy the latest obsessions of our editorial team. Welcome to Fräulein’s Crush.

Our first crush comes from Sina Braetz, our fashion director. Typically donned in Yamamoto and menswear inspired pieces, this was a surprising pick from her:
“Ok, this one is an awkward obsession, I have to admit. But this is also why it is the perfect one to start with! The word obsession itself suggests that there needs to be a little something… an element or feature that makes an item not only pretty, but memorable.
The Bottega Veneta Puddle Boot obsession actually started with a total opposite feeling. The first time I saw the boots in Milan I was really like „Oh my god, not again, a rain boot.“ Especially since I think that the best rain boots ever done are still coming from Hunter Boots. But then I met these little damn cute booties (made out of eco-efficient biodegradable polymer).  I could not decide whether I found them ridiculous, especially in their bold pink and green colors, or if they were actually incredibly cool. As with everything, it is always a question of who wears them, of course. But I had this perfect picture in my head: wearing the boots with ultra wide pants and a super oversized white shirt. Ready to start the day, no matter what obstacle or puddle may come my way. Long live the workwear style. I am sure we will see these worn by all kinds of people, mostly in the wrong way (as with what happened to the chunky Bottega combat boots), but until that moment, I will enjoy them to the fullest, even when not wearing, nor possessing them… (yet).
