PLAYLIST PT. 21: QUARRY

vor 4 years

Happy Monday! This week’s earworms come from London-based musician, the newcomer Quarry.

Each week, OOR Studios reaches out to various budding artists to create a playlist for us to play within our offices. Of course we share the best ones with you! Quarry himself says that he is more inspired by music that he does not appreciate as much. Within that statement there’s respect for his forebears, but where some artists process that admiration through emulation, the British artist remains utterly unimpeded by reverence, as evidenced in the brilliant pop he creates as Quarry. The playlist he created for us is filled with a variety of genres: alternative-rock by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Kooks pairing with electronic sounds by KAYTRANADA, and some rap songs by Tierra Whack. He recently released his last single with an accompanying music video: “Time’s Up” is a song about the feeling of being pulled in two directions – something we all can understand. Below, find the video as well as a special playlist. Enjoy!

"More than anything it’s people that inspire me, so the songs that stick with me always make me feel connected to the artist in some way. Whether that’s an emotional connection or a feeling in my body, when it hits just right it's like I’m seeing the world for the first time again..."
