We Attend the GANNI F/W 21 Live Music x Fashion Collection

vor 3 years

Music forever; Fashion Forever More

Instead of participating in the never-ending digital runway shows, GANNI chose to collab with three emerging musical talents as part of their anticipated addition to Copenhagen Fashion Week. Their collection entitled “Love Forever” was displayed through a live music performance (something we have all been missing in our lockdowns.) Oh, the simple joys we took for granted! Give us back our Tshirts and live sets!

There was New York-based ZSELA (who released her debut EP “Ache of Victory” in April 2020). She has a rich and strange voice, a minimal sound, and is certainly someone we will keep our eye on. We have been listening to her all day in the office. With performances of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” a cover of Sinéad O’Connor’s legendary song, and the soulful original composition “Drinking”, GANNI’S love-themed motto is echoed not only in content, but also in dress. ZSELA wears a feminine cream cardigan with oversized collar and statement buttons, paired with jeans and platform loafers. The collection combines old and new, like the Ganni we all know and love.

Floating between grunge, the lo-fi ends of pop, and west coast hip-hop, the Los Angeles native Deb Never performed “Sorry” for GANNI and her new single “Someone Else.” Deb crosses the boundaries between different genres, as does her GANNI ensemble with pops of 90s neon green, later taking the stage in an adrogrynous and extended-length suit with classic pinstripes. Effortlessly, slouchy cool .

And then there was the Copenhagen-based Coco O., previously known as a member of the band Quadro, singing a soft version of the Olive song “You’re Not Alone” with her upbeat and memorable voice. A lot can be expected from the singer, who has collaborated with Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator and Pharrell Williams (just to name a few). Her new single is due out by the end of February. Coco’s classic 70’s look features distinctive platform boots with fresh green, asymmetrical shapes.

GANNI celebrates not only music as a source of inspiration and energy in their 2021 F / W collection, but also upcoming female talent. Between the leather, the ruffles and romantic rose prints, the collection gives us a reminder to keep hope alive for the time to return to us, when music and fashion can be consumed live again in person, not only in front of the screen but in person. We can’t wait to get dressed up.
